Group chat roles and permissions ​
Group chat members can have the following roles:
- Owner.
- Admin.
- Moderator.
- Exception.
- Member.
Chat owners: ​
- Only one for each chat.
- Can manage all other roles.
- Can assign admins/mods.
- Can remove privileges.
- Can set permissions.
- Can show the entire chat history to another member.
- Can leave the chat only by transferring ownership to another member.
- Can transfer ownership to another member.
- Can disband a chat (delete a chat).
Chat admins: ​
- There can be multiple admins in a chat.
- Can manage the following roles: Mod, Exception and Member.
- Can assign mods.
- Can set permissions.
- Can remove privileges.
- Can show the entire chat history to another member.
- Can leave the chat without transferring their permissions.
Chat mods: ​
- There can be multiple mods in a chat.
- Can manage only Members and Exceptions.
- Can remove privileges.
- Can set permissions.
- Can leave the chat without transferring their permissions.
Every chat member can: ​
- Send messages.
- Edit messages.
- Delete their own messages.
- Delete any messages.
- Edit the member list.
- Change the chat icon.
- See the list of members who viewed a message.
The chat owner has full permissions. Default permissions for other roles depend on the group chat settings and the specific role. You can change permissions for chat members based on your role. The Member role becomes the Exception role if its permissions are changed.
